Privacy Policy

Your privacy is fundamental to Skin AI. We built this app with a simple principle: your face data belongs to you and only you. All face scanning and processing happens entirely on your device. We will never sell or share your personal information or face data with any third parties.

On-Device Processing

All 3D face scanning, texture baking, mesh processing, and skin analysis happens entirely on your iPhone. Your face scan data — including 3D meshes, texture maps, and camera images — is processed locally using your device's hardware and Apple's ARKit framework. No face data is ever transmitted to third parties or used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the app's functionality to you.

Scans are stored locally on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. If you delete the app, all local scan data is permanently removed from your device.

What We Do NOT Do

We want to be explicit about what we do not do:

• We do NOT use facial recognition or biometric identification
• We do NOT sell, rent, lease, or share any personal data or face data with third parties
• We do NOT use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
• We do NOT track your activity across other apps or websites
• We do NOT use analytics SDKs or third-party tracking tools
• We do NOT automatically transmit face data — cloud sync is always user-initiated
• We do NOT access or process your face data on our servers — cloud storage is encrypted at rest and serves only as backup

Face Data Collection & Use

During a scanning session, the app uses Apple's ARKit framework and your device's TrueDepth camera to capture the following face data:

• 3D face mesh geometry (vertices, UV texture coordinates, and triangle indices)
• Camera images from multiple head poses (front, left, right, up, down, and intermediate angles)
• Camera intrinsics and face/camera transform matrices for each capture

This data is processed entirely on your device to generate a 3D model of your face with a blended texture atlas. The resulting model is used solely to let you view, track, compare, and export your face scans over time. No facial recognition or biometric identification is performed. We do not analyze, sell, or share your face data with any third parties for any purpose.

Face Data Storage & Retention

By default, all face scan data is stored only on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. Face data is never transmitted automatically.

If you choose to use the optional cloud sync feature, your scan data (3D mesh, texture, and metadata) is uploaded to our cloud infrastructure provider (Supabase) to enable cross-device access. This upload only occurs when you explicitly initiate it. Cloud-stored data is encrypted at rest, isolated to your account via row-level security, and is never accessed, processed, or shared by us or any third party.

Face data is retained until you choose to delete it. You can delete individual scans from within the app at any time. If you have synced data to the cloud, you can delete cloud copies from within the app or by deleting your account, which permanently removes all server-side data. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all local data from your device.

We do not impose any minimum retention period. Your face data is kept only as long as you choose to keep it.

Profile Information

During onboarding, you may provide the following profile information to personalize your experience:

• Name — used only to personalize the app interface
• Age — used only to tailor skin care context
• Skin type (e.g., oily, dry, combination) — used for personalization
• Skin concerns (e.g., acne, dark spots) — used for personalization
• Skin care goals — used for personalization

This information is used solely to personalize your in-app experience. If you create an account, profile data is stored on our cloud infrastructure to enable cross-device access. It is never sold or shared with third parties.

Data Export

You can export your 3D scan data at any time as a standard OBJ/MTL file package. Exported data is saved to a location you choose (e.g., Files, AirDrop, email). Skin AI does not retain a copy of exported data and has no visibility into where you send it. You are fully in control of your exported data.

Camera & ARKit Usage

Skin AI requires access to your front-facing TrueDepth camera to perform 3D face scanning using Apple's ARKit framework. Camera access is used exclusively for capturing face geometry and texture data during scanning sessions.

Camera images are processed in real-time on your device and are never transmitted externally. The app does not access your photo library for scanning purposes — photo library access is only requested if you choose to add a photo of a skincare product.

Third-Party Services

Skin AI does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. There are no hidden trackers or beacons in the app.

For account authentication and optional cloud sync, we use Supabase as our cloud infrastructure provider. Supabase provides secure, encrypted storage and does not access, analyze, or share your data. No other third-party service receives your face data, scan data, or personal information.

Children's Privacy

Skin AI does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect or transmit personal data, there is minimal risk. However, the app is intended for users aged 13 and older.

Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data at all times:

• Delete individual scans — removes the scan from your device and, if synced, from the cloud
• Delete your account — permanently removes all your data from our servers, including all synced scans, profile information, and authentication data
• Uninstall the app — permanently removes all local data from your device

When you delete your account, all server-side data is permanently and irrecoverably removed. You may also request account deletion by contacting us at collinli2353@gmail.com.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify users through an app update. We will never change our core commitment: your face data is never sold or shared with third parties.
